Sorry for the late post, again! I’ve been busy, but I also, ah… may or may not have gotten caught up in Arya Stark cosplay stuff.
*runs away and hides*
A Darker Shade of Magic — Lila
I adore Red London, and I’d totally be down with living there. I especially envy Lila, as she has many other… skills*, along with the whole ‘yep I can travel between Londons’ sort of thing.
Also, the ability to irritate Kell is a huge plus.
*I’m a writer, for goodness sake! Surely you must understand why knowing how to pickpocket would be a good idea. I’m not about to actually go and pickpocket someone. Right. Nope, not gonna do that.
Anna and the French Kiss — Anna
One of my childhood wishes was to go to boarding school in another country. It wasn’t that I wanted to be away from my family, but rather that I wanted to be able to travel the world and learn while I was at it. Anna gets to do that, and though she’s resistant at first (let’s kill that trope please and thank you), she eventually warms to it. Lucky Anna.
Eliza and Her Monsters — Eliza
Granted, I don’t fully envy Eliza. I did, however, relate a lot to her, while I was reading it.
The thing is, she can art. If you followed Bookwise back in the day when- ok yeah that was a year ago, I’ll stop now- I was trying to teach myself how to draw so I could draw my characters, and….yeah. It didn’t go all that well. (I’m still trying, just not as, ah, diligently) Eliza actually can, and she illustrates her characters and stories. I do know that that’s not without its own set of struggles, but… well, it’s frustrating to not be able to even draw a rough approximation of my people. Or, for that matter, anything/one else.
Night of Cake and Puppets — Zuzana
Number one: she lives in Prague. Number two: She’s got a nasty death glare. (if I try to death-glare, by the way, I fail miserably and end up laughing) Number three: Cake.
Sachertorte, to be precise. That’s ninety percent of the reason I fell in love with this book.
Please, someone, send me Sachertorte.
The Wrath and the Dawn — basically everyone, unless they die
Is the food a good enough reason? Yes? Good.
Food.
The Raven Boys — Blue
I just find the idea of living in a house with your mother and all of her psychic friends rather interesting. And the idea of trekking off with a group of boys searching for a dead Welsh king? Yes, please. And thank you. #manners
The Lost Hero — Leo
Um… look at the dragon. The dragon is the entire reason of this. Do you want a dragon? I want a dragon.
The Hobbit — Bilbo Baggins
I don’t know about you, but if a group of dwarves showed up on my front porch and asked me to come with them to reclaim their lost homeland, I’d probably join them*.
*This particular dragon situation… yeah, I’d probably just end up making friends with it, Then forming an alliance and joint-ruling Middle Earth. No biggie.
The Archived — Mackenzie
Perhaps it is an inconvienience at times, but the idea of chasing down rogue spirits is an interesting one. I’d take it.
Strange the Dreamer — Lazlo
Lazlo gets to work at a library and go on an adventure. #winning. Though really, if he read as much as he says he does, he’d have peripheral vision good enough not to run into walls and break his nose. Or perhaps the book was good enough that he’d completely zoned out, caught in the middle of an existential crisis that it had triggered? Ah, mystery.
What fictional characters do you envy the most? Why? Tell me in the comments, and have a lovely Tuesday!
I definitely admire Lila, but I absolutely envy Kell’s coat. It would be so convenient. Sweater? You got it. Oh it started to rain? RAIN COAT! Suddenly the temperature drops? Wool pea coat, YES.

This is such a good list! I feel a teensy bit envious of Alice in Furthermore, she can physically create imagination and color and it’s magical! Or can I say I’m envious of Amelia Pond? I mean… she has Rory! ❤
